Viking Cycle Gunnar Motorcycle backpack review

Viking Cycle Gunnar motorcycle backpack

I recently had the opportunity to review one of Viking Cycle motorcycle backpacks.  I have several of their bags and have always been pleased with the quality and workmanship of the bags.  This one is a fairly new addition to their lineup and it's called the Viking Cycle Gunnar backpack.  It weighs 3.6 pounds and is a fairly large backpack, much larger than the other one I have from them.  This one measures 15" x 11" x 4" but expands to 20.5" x 11.8" x 6.3".  It is basically one large compartment and is made for carrying lots of items while riding your motorcycle.  There is a small mesh zippered pocket inside and it is obvious that this backpack is suited for carrying a laptop, as the structure is VERY well padded where it conforms to your back.

The large storage compartment of the backpack is held together by two large, very durable YKK metal zippers.  I like double zippers as it gives you much more control over closing your backpack, not to mention, if one zipper goes bad somewhere along the way.

The backpack is made of heavy duty Cordora, which holds up very nice in different types of weather.  The shoulder straps are extra large and very padded to provide a comfortable ride while wearing the Gunnar backpack.  The chest straps are easy to fasten and is much of what makes this a motorcycle backpack as it hugs your body and has excellent weight distribution.

The backpack is very comfortable while riding as you forget you have it on.  Once off, it does have a carry handle if you no longer want to wear it on your back.  The back also has reflective web loops so that if you ride at night, it provides an extra touch of visibility.

The backpack seems to be made well as I believe it is made in Pakistan and everything I have ever gotten that was made there has been excellent quality. If you have never rode with a motorycle specific backpack, you really don't know what you're missing. This backpack is priced at $65.99; the price of two good meals or one great one. Do yourself a favor and get a Gunnar backpack! The backpack can be purchased here from Viking Cycle here.
